Created in 1985, the AHC is New York’s sole subsidy for the development of for-sale affordable homes that enable low-to-moderate income households and communities to build equity. Despite dramatic increases in the cost of construction over the past 35 years, AHC allocations to build for-sale affordable homes have not changed much, which has led to budget gaps for affordable home builders, including Habitat for Humanity affiliates, across New York State.
