PALOS HILLS, IL — A Palos Hills resident lost a lot of money in an online employment scam, reports said.

Police went to the 8500 block of 99th Terrace on Nov. 9 to speak to a resident regarding a deceptive practice. The resident had attempted to get a job online.

The alleged employer issued a check to the resident, who was instructed to send money to various people, stating it was for work-related expenses. The check issued was not valid and the resident’s money was lost.

Palos Hills police advise residents to be cautious of online job offers as they may be scams, especially if they involve money.
