The Plainview Police Department is warning citizens about a new phone scam that the department has received multiple calls about.

According to the release, complainants have said they are receiving calls from those posing as the police department demanding payment or else a warrant would be issued for their arrest.

Plainview PD does not contact individuals over the phone in regard to warrants. Correspondences are sent by mail from the Municipal Court about citations. Payment will not be requested over the phone by the Plainview PD or the Municipal Court.

Should you receive one of these calls, the department urges citizens to not provide personal information such as Social Security Number, State ID number of address. Do not agree to send payment in any form and do not provide bank or credit card numbers.
