What are the priorities?

Nov. 17, the Chronicle front page said that somebody donated a half-million dollars to build a shelter for dogs. In today’s paper, Nov. 18, it said we desperately need low-income housing for human beings and thousands of people are lined up in Inverness for food. What are our priorities?…

I am responding to the front page of Nov. 18’s Chronicle. It is always heartwarming to see that food giveaways are there in Citrus County for people in need, but as it says on the front page, “Thousands flock to food giveaway,” I wonder about that. I wonder how many of those people are actually from Citrus County. Shouldn’t our food giveaways be for people in our county?

Millionaires getting free turkeys

I see on the front page of the Chronicle (Nov. 18), “Thousands flock to food giveaway,” for the turkeys. Isn’t it a shame that (some) of those people there are millionaires? It’s a shame because turkey’s 49 cents a pound. To sit in line from 3 o’clock in the morning to get a free turkey is really the pits, especially since (some) people have money and could afford to pay 49 cents a pound for a turkey.
